...meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

United Nations, General Assembly resolution 42/187

This website's goal is to promote and facilitate sustainable consumption in Scotland. Sustainable consumption is not necessarily less consumption, it can be smarter consumption which puts less stress on the environment without a negative impact on standards of living. Indeed, sustainable consumption offers opportunities for businesses to save money by improving efficiency.

This website aims to be a repository of information about organisations, individuals and activites relevant to consumption and sustainability in Scotland. By using the same software and wiki format as wikipedia all information on this site can be:

  • Easily linked together
  • Easily edited by anyone

Articles about sustainability and consumption are welcome, especially if they have a focus on Scotland, and especially if they link to relevant stakeholders.

A number of reports on sustainable consumption have identified co-ordination as a significant difficulty in making changes towards sustainability. Co-ordinated action is required from different parties with different interests. A primary aim of this website is to help forge new links by making information about groups, businesses, organisations, governmental departments, etc. easily available and quickly accessible.

This wiki is currently under development. At the moment this site is not functional as an information resource. Please help to change this situation by adding pages (you have to sign up with a valid email address before you can edit pages).
